Tribal Belly Dance * Oriental Dance * Oriental Tribal Belly Danse*Fusion Tribal Belly Dance

Jamina Ghawazee Tribal Belly Dance Group

I am very happy that I was able to foreshow the power, the beauty and the mood of the oriental, tribal belly dance with different dancers as well as with Hungarian audience.

This is the dance with we brought the women power, pride and tradition back to our life. This is the tribal belly dance. I believe, in this style the acquirement of the right techniques is not the only important aspect, yet, expressing the deep feelings and mood is also very important.

It makes me happy that during the past few years numerous talented tribal dancers that I mentored and taught become know in the Hungarian belly dance community. Furthermore, I am really of my beginner students from all over the country.

For several years, our team (Jamina Ghawazee Tribal Belly Dance Group) performs on different festivals and theatrical shows (www.ghawazeetancszinhaz.hu).

For the first time in Hungary, I have established the as known as fusion tribal style where I have numerous talented dancers.

Thank you for your trustfulness and love.

The women's solo danc of the Arab world pre-dates Islam and is found throughout the Middle East and North Africa.

Originally it had a precise meaning in terms of ritual and ceremony. In time, however, in common with much dance, it lost its religious significance and became a secular enterainment, in the process becoming more refined in terms of both form and accompanying music.

Traditionally handed down from mother to daughter, it is still perfomred in private by women for their own amusement, and has achieved its greatest sophistication in Egypt. There it survives among the Ghawazee dancers who are brought in to entertain at weddings and other celebratory occasions within the community.

The Ghawazee were one of the most famous dancing tribes in Egypt. Now the term Ghawazee is used to describe the dancers of the countryside who still perform in the traditional manner.

JAMINA GHAWAZEE dance group was formed in October, 1998.

With our style we want to represent the traditional Arabic and Turkish belly dance emphasizing the tribal elemnts, the authentic nature of this mysterious women's dance but on request we perform show style as well. We have the tendency to mix costume elements, music and dance moves from different ethnic regions into a single look. In our programmme we show group, pair as well as solo dances of a high standard using some props like swords, candles, trays, jugs and canes to enchance our performance. We use veils and finger cymbals too and mix the choreography and essential improvisation elements. We incorporate drum solos into our programme to demonstrate individual and particular skills, affirming the spirit of spontaneous self-expression which lies at the heart of this fascinating dance.

We would like to lay emphasis on the fact that our programme is "a dance of real pleasure and enjoyment performed together". We have attended several indoor and outdoor local and ethnic dance festivals and events.
